From 19th century railroad workers to 21st century tech leaders, AANHPI trailblazers are part of the fabric of our country. What began in 1979 as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Week, we now celebrate as Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month throughout the month of May. This year’s theme focuses on the legacy of leadership and resilience. AANHPI homeownership has increased steadily over the last decade and over 40% of recent purchasers were first-time homebuyers. Sharing a home with family is important, too. About a quarter of all AANHPI buyers purchased multi-generational homes, primarily to care for older parents and relatives and accommodate young adults moving back home.
